I was just a freak and really shy and self-conscious and modest. The pendulum swung so far when I started writing pop music because I was like, 'I have to do my inner child justice and just be free.'

I just truly want to live in this dream world that I've created. And I want everyone else to live in it with me, on stage, or in the music videos or listening to the music. I just try to be the girl that I really needed when I was 14.
